I bought some pears and figs from Ozark Natural Foods last week and had forgotten to use them. Figs don’t last long and the pears ripened faster than I was expecting so I had to come up with a use for them quickly so I decided to make some savory tarts. They are easy to make and the flavors all work together nicely.
I used the tart dough recipe from my previous tarts.
- Tart Dough
- 1/2 cup milk
- 12oz goat cheese
- 1 large onion sliced
- 2tbsp of olive oil or butter
- 2 pears (bartlett or bosc)
- 6-8 figs
Makes 6 tartlets
Preheat the oven to 350˙F. Prepare tart dough and line the tart pans. Bake for about 10 mins. Set aside.
Caramelize onion over low heat in olive oil or butter.
Cream the milk and goat cheese in a bowl.
Peel and slice the pears and quarter the figs.
Layer each tart curst with a thick layer of goat cheese, pears, onions, and figs.
Finish baking the tarts for 20 mins and serve.
